Romack Financial has partnered with a publically traded San Antonio communications provider to add a forward-thinking, creative and relational Controller to the team.  Our client is growing rapidly through acquisition, and would love to have a candidate who knows how to scale the accounting function quickly.  This role reports to the CFO, and will be responsible for the vision, leadership, development and execution of accounting operations, systems and controls, and financial reporting.  Long-term stock options are part of this role’s total compensation.
Ideally, you possess:
  • Public accounting audit experience and/or equivalent Internal Audit experience
  • Highest level of personal integrity, professionalism, and strong ethical standard
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and other accounting and reporting standards
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in accounting or related field
  • Advanced credentials such as MBA or certified public accountant (CPA), certified management accountant (CMA) or chartered global management accountant (CGMA)
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible public accounting, auditing, and financial reporting experience, with a strong background in driving departmental growth and improvement
  • Knowledge of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • 2-5 years previous management or lead experience
  • QuickBooks experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
What you will do:
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of systems and policies and procedures, to ensure adherence to company guidelines and proper internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, SEC, and other relevant regulations
  • Responsible for planning and directing all areas of accounting, both technical and transactional, including financial reporting, SEC reporting, technical accounting, operational accounting, procure to pay, risk management, internal controls, and financial systems
  • Responsible for annual audit and quarterly reporting
  • Responsible or financial budgeting and forecasting, work with various department heads
  • Prepare Financial and Footnote for Form 10Q’s, 10k, 8K’s
  • Work with auditors to meet audit objectives
  • Lead the Company’s financial close process, including preparation of financial statements and management reporting metrics and analysis
  • Continually evaluate opportunities to drive greater efficiencies and effectiveness in the monthly and quarterly accounting close process
  • Provide oversight for the development and implementation of accounting policies and controls consistent with SEC, US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Participate/lead the drafting of the financial sections of the earnings releases and conference call scripts
  • Prepare materials and present at Audit Committee meetings
  • Manage relationships with functional departments heads across the organization, staying abreast of strategic needs that may drive changes to financial policies, tools, and risk management; and providing practical, savvy accounting expertise to others in the organization as we continue to evolve
  • Cash management, work with all departments on expense management and approval of disbursements
  • Collaborate with Financial Planning & Analysis on the preparation of financial reports for internal and external audiences
  • Provide leadership as the main point of contact for external financial service providers, including external auditors and lenders
  • Prepare and calculate Financial Covenants for lender reporting
  • Lead 3-5 Managers (Controllers) in FL, TX, CA, as a strong, positive leader; be a coach and advisor willing to work alongside the team and sharing process and technical expertise to continually evolve the organization’s capabilities; manage the professional development of the team through ongoing growth opportunities and effective goal setting
  • Responsible for proper staffing of the company wide accounting and finance departments
  • Work cross-functionally and use technology to build scalable and sustainable processes and controls to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations, and meet the needs of our growing business
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Work on Due diligence on potential acquisitions
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned
