Senior Systems Engineer with DevOps background/abilities. 
Location: Dallas, TX

Work closely with the application teams and stay involved in the entire lifecycle of a product/system. Build and maintain an in-depth focus into the system. Primary responsibility is to insure that the system maintains high availability. Will act as the custodian of operational requirements by implementing Mandatory Operating Standards (MOS) into products and promoting other engineering best practices. 

Operating Systems Administration: 
Fluent in Linux (Redhat Enterprise) / Unix operating systems. Ability to determine if a problem is related to an application or OS. Fluent in shell (bash/ksh) scripting and be able to program in Perl. TCL/Tk knowledge and F5 iRules knowledge is a plus. In-depth troubleshooting knowledge. 

Network : 
Understands TCP/IP network topology, and how routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers fit into the environment. Experience with F5 is a plus. 
  • Follow up on the root cause, make sure it is remedied in the system
Application Management (DevOps) 
  • Understand the change management and release management lifecycles and the importance of their role in a production environment 
  • Ability to be an Administer for version control systems (SVN, GIT, etc.) 
  • Background with Tomcat and/or JBoss 
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment 
  • Knowledge of J2EE (development background a plus) 

MOS compliance for the system 
  • Help teams understand MOS 
  • MOS Audit 
  • Approve exceptions 
Change support 
  • Review and approve major changes (new application baseline, configuration) in production. 
  • Plan and exercise control over operational performance phases of product testing and analyze results to determine if products meet requirements 
  • Participate in critical change calls to support the System Owner and articulate Engineering concurrence or concerns reviewing significant changes or concerns with Lead Engineer as appropriate 
  • Preview and approve changes to architecture and system 
Incident/Problem Management 
  • Participate in incident calls for the product or products supported by Engineer 
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and lead where appropriate
