Cloud Data Engineer    (REMOTE)

Seattle, WA
Terms: 3 Months Terms with possible 3 month extensions
2-3 weeks Onsite then remote with occasional visits.  Couple days a month max
Client will pay T&E for those visits.

The Cloud Data Engineer is responsible for designing high-quality, automated, reliable, scalable and stable database infrastructure technologies and security capabilities. This position is accountable for the data scalability and availability, maintenance and monitoring best practices guidance, and integrating all of this into a highly automation Devops environment.
Day to Day: 
  • Communicates highly complex ideas and concepts to non-technical peers and customers
  • Ability to establish cross-functional, collaborative relationships with business and technology partners
  • Prototype new solutions or technologies to demonstrate feasibility
  • Roll up sleeves and help the team with code reviews, monitoring platform stability, and troubleshooting technical issues encountered in production as needed.
  • Support the platform development team and perform activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Ability to effectively manage and partner with technology vendors to deliver against business objectives
  • Conducts research and makes recommendations on standards, products, and services in support of the Unified Commerce Platform
  • Ensures database architectural solutions are stable, secure, and compliant with Company standards and practices
  • Implements all technologies in accordance with Information Security's guiding principles for highly sensitive data
  • Architects solutions that deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics
  • Is knowledgeable in Operational IT Management to include Change Management, Release Management, Incident Management, and Problem Management
  • Architects solutions that monitors services across all platforms to ensure continuous availability and operational continuity of critical systems
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical environments
  • Upholds company policies, and legal/regulatory requirements, such as PCI
  • Architects system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards
  • Understanding of Information Security with experience in the fields of network security, endpoint security, identity management, access control, cloud security and/or cryptography
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced and cross-functional team environment
  • Strong technical background and understanding in the areas of enterprise infrastructure and information security.
Most Critical Skills:
  1. BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  2. 5+ years of experience supporting no SQL databases such (Cassandra, Mongo, ETC)
  3. 5+ years of proven database administration at large, scaling available, environments
  4. 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure Automation tools
  5. 3+ years of experience in system administration, and systems engineering
  6. 3+ years architecting enterprise level database solutions
  7. 3+ years supporting Linux operating systems, both server and client
  8. 3+ years of experience building highly available databases in geographically dispersed cloud environments
  9. 3+ years of experience implementing role based access controls for enterprise database solutions
  10. 3+ years of experience auditing, alerting and remediating on database activity monitoring and firewalling solutions
