Summary of Responsibilities: 
  • Support the day to day operations of SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008 Databases. 
  • Ensure the ongoing health, availability, and optimum performance of SQL Server databases. 
  • Perform daily reviews to ensure backups and failover readiness of systems. 
  • Coordinate closely with other members of the SQL Server Database administration team for all efforts. 
Essential Job Functions: 
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using written and verbal communication methods. 
  • Coordinate changes with other members of the DBA team. 
  • Perform database failovers with Databases replicated with Mirroring and Always-On Availability Groups. 
  • Refresh databases in lower environments with Production data. 
  • Support application releases. 
  • Diagnose and resolve database performance issues. 
  • Install and maintain database products including patching and upgrading of environments. 
  • Configure Windows Clustering and SQL Server Clustered Instances. 
  • Create/maintain DBA Powershell and T-SQL scripts. 
  • Assist in transition of database monitoring from Foglight to Solarwinds. 
  • Coordinate with software vendor technical support. 
  • Coordinate and implement changes to development, test, and production environments. 
  • Participate in 7/24 On-Call rotation. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
Experience and Educational Requirements: 
  • B.S. in Management Information Systems or Computer Science (4 year degree). An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered. 
  • 4+ years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible information technology work experience with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment. 
  • 4+ years SQL Server database security and user management. 
  • 3+ years in SQL Server Mirroring or Always-On groups. 
  • 2+ years direct, hands-on experience with T-SQL and Powershell. 
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP, SSAE16, and/or SOC compliance standards is a plus.
