The enterprise storage/server and backup engineer will be responsible with providing core support to the enterprise storage infrastructure and related data systems, to include the configuration, management, support, maintenance, reporting and oversight of the enterprise storage area network (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) devices, Azure/AWS storage, local storage and all physical and virtual Windows servers in the environment. This position is also required to provide end-to-end management including but not limited to installation, configuration, tuning, administration and troubleshooting of the enterprise backup and recovery platform.
The ideal candidate should be accustomed to working in a mid to large-size organization and possess the desire to cross train and perform other duties as required. A strong Windows server and VMware understanding is desired.
This position requires 24 x 7 on-call rotational support.
Ideal candidate should be local to the twin cities areas.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain standards, policies and procedures for Enterprise Storage and EBR infrastructure in compliance with insurance industry security standards and industry best practices.
  • Provide end-to-end management, support and ownership of Tegile SAN and HP Lefthand SAN that includes but not limited to –
  • Array configurations
  • Server/Storage connectivity
  • Storage provisioning/deprovisioning
  • Replication strategy
  • Data protection
  • Capacity planning
  • Patch Management
  • Operate and maintain all production, test, and development systems in a Windows environment.
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades; evaluate and install patches and resolve software and OS related problems.
  • Support Microsoft Windows server technologies (Server 2008 R2/2012/2016) operating systems, VMware virtualization platforms (vSphere 5.5/6/6.5).
  • Provide advanced level guidance and technical expertise on storage configurations, best practices and troubleshooting of common block/file protocols, including FC, iSCSl, NFS, ClFS.
  • Monitor and control storage performance according to requirements and provide performance tuning.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new or additional storage technologies to improve infrastructure service locally and remotely and implement necessary configurations to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
  • Work with various stakeholders to plan the design, upgrades and capacity planning.
  • Recommend multiple tiered enterprise storage solutions as well as local storage options.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of data protection/disaster recovery environments.
  • Work with various stakeholders to establish backup standards to ensure 100% backup coverage and ensure standards are built into the server provisioning procedure.
  • Monitor backup jobs and provide a periodic Backup Report to management.
  • Implement and maintain automated system monitoring and alerting.
  • Support service requests for the restoration of data from the backups.
  • Create and maintain operational checklists and operational reports.
  • Produce, Maintain and update technical documentation.
