Summary of Responsibilities:
Support the integration of SQL Server Database User Authentication with Active Directory in SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008 databases using Active Directory. Implementing Active Directory/LDAP authentication mechanisms in SQL Server databases, and assisting users with the conversion process.
 
Essential Job Functions:
•             Communicate clearly and effectively using written and verbal communication methods.
•             Cultivate strong working relationships with personnel in other ERCOT IT and Business groups.
•             Implement Active Directory Authentication for SQL Server database accounts.
•             Map SQL Server roles to Active Directory groups based on organizational workgroups and Active Directory models.
•             Convert database user accounts to Active Directory managed authentication.
•             Assist users as needed to implement AD authenticated database accounts.
•             Coordinate changes with other members of the ERCOT DBA team.
•             Create/maintain DBA Powershell and T-SQL scripts.
•             Coordinate with software vendor technical support.
•             Coordinate and implement changes to development, test, and production environments.
•             Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Experience and Educational Requirements:
•             B.S. in Management Information Systems or Computer Science (4 year degree). An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered.
•             5+ years (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible information technology work experience with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
•            3+ years SQL Server database management experience.
•            3 years SQL Server database security and user management.
•             2+ years direct, hands-on experience with T-SQL and Powershell.
•             Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
•             Must be willing to share knowledge freely and teach skills and concepts to others.
•             Must be curious and willing to learn.
