Microsoft System Administrator reporting to the Director of IT. The candidate is responsible for the administration and support of all Microsoft Server implementations including associated systems hardware, software and networks.
  • He/she provides direct technical support for the coordination, programming and implementation of releases, upgrades and changes to the production operating system software and related application products and production tools.
  • Supports all production and user application computing environments in support of the company mission.
  • The individual ensures stable performance of all IT systems through effective problem troubleshooting, resolution, pro-active patch management and performance tuning, capacity planning, and workload monitoring.
  • Working with some of the latest virtualization and security technologies, the system administrator ensures the proper configurations are applied and monitored to achieve optimal performance and security integrity. Tasking includes support for CAD engineering and specialized testing applications.
  • It is essential that the successful candidate be able to establish rapport, credibility, trust and respect with users, peers and management. The ideal candidate must also have a proven track record and the ability to deliver high quality, on-time results.
Primary Position Duties (Non-Inclusive)
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements all Microsoft operating system and related software
  • Provides high quality support for VMware v 6.5 system and network administration
  • Performs network system support for Palo Alto firewall, HP hardware/software and MS operating system environments including availability, recoverability and security
  • Performs 3rd party hardware and software upgrades and release planning
  • Supports all server and network related problem troubleshooting and resolution
  • Maintains production operations on Veeam backup systems and system recovery processes and procedures
  • Internet / SQL Web integration and support
  • Experienced in Exchange Outlook administration
  • Provides technical consultation and support to users; performs system / user account administration
  • Performs infrastructure and network improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Experience in network technologies including 802.11 wireless, VLANs, layer 2/3 switching
  • Monitors multiple project priorities. Other duties as assigned
General Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline; equivalent experience acceptable
  • Minimum of two years of experience in VMware administration
  • MCSE certification desirable. Palo Alto / Security certifications a plus
  • Minimum four to six years of experience in server and network administration, Exchange messaging, and infrastructure security or equivalent
  • Knowledgeable in the implementation and support of Microsoft Active Directory, DNS and LDAP services
  • Excellent technical knowledge and aptitude in the areas of Microsoft servers, IP networks, and application file servers, and software troubleshooting techniques. Technical understanding of internetworking architecture, and Internet / Web computing architectures highly desirable
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Exchange / Outlook messaging experience a plus
  • Experienced with Network System Protocols and Standards: Ethernet, LANs, TCP/IP, T1s, VPN, VLANs. 802.11 Wireless experience a plus. Microsoft SQL and application support experience preferred
  • Experience in Microsoft management tools, Veeam backup, Trend Micro (or equivalent AV) systems preferred
